Me…
I’m Janelle Turner, a mom-writer-business-owner-wife-friend-yogini-daughter-shopaholic-wine-drinker-curly-haired-hippy-traditional-feminist. So why Crooked Wisdom? Well, the journey is not a certainly not a straight or easy path, and with every mistake comes a little more wisdom….

I write freelance articles, blog entries, social media content, website content, web and product reviews, abstract pieces as well as short stories. I have also created instruction manuals and policy/procedure manuals for small businesses.

My past…
Writing was my passion throughout high school and early university. I continued writing articles, journaling and editing a print magazine for several years into my twenties, and then life got busier, work got harder, and I put it all aside. Over the last ten years I have come to realize that writing is an integral part of who I am and how I view the world and that pausing that piece of my life hasn’t done me any good. As I pick up a few of those old pieces and start building repertoire and a portfolio from scratch again I am humbled by the process of starting over.

My Experiences…
During my time away from my writing, I filled the years with project management work, reflexology and massage training, raising two little boys, and starting and running my own e-commerce business that changed an entire niche market. The last six years I have been the owner, operator and designer behind Erizo Baby Slings & Erizo Wovens. I have been responsible for maintaining all of the facebook/social media marketing, blogs, email subscriber campaigns, the printed literature and instruction manuals, and policy manuals behind the scenes. I also handle all of the customer service, designs, shipping and other duties of an e-commerce business. While producing hand woven fabric is not my “life passion” per se, I have enjoyed watching it blossom and flourish. It has certainly nurtured my creativity while my writing took more of a back seat role, and the baby slings we produce made the early years of parenting much easier as well.
